Rev. Addie (Brower) Clark

Rev. Addie Brower Clark devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt was born February 2, 1948 to the late Everett Brower Sr. and Alberta Shamberger Brower in Robbins, NC. She made her transition from earth to glory on August 30, 2017 in Fort

Washington, MD.

 

Rev. Clark attended Pinkney High School in Carthage, NC, and was a member of the final graduating class in 1966. She received a degree in Theology from Shaw University Divinity School in Raleigh, NC and later earned an Associate’s Degree in Office Management from Sandhills Community College in Pinehurst, NC.

Rev. Clark was devoted to the Lord and served over thirty years in the AME Zion Ministry. She served as a Sunday school teacher, class leader, Director of the junior choir and the Associate Pastor at New Zion AME Zion Church, Robbins, NC.  Rev. Clark also served as the Pastor of Wadesville AME Church, Wadesville, NC; Bethel AME Zion Church, Rockingham, NC; and Snow Hill AME Zion Church, Mt. Gilead, NC.

 

Growing up Rev. Clark was known to be a tomboy and would always play with her male cousins. She enjoyed playing horseshoes, basketball, and softball, where she earned the nickname “slugger”. She had a love for gardening, her grandchildren, music and upholding family traditions. She was a friend, mentor, and second mother to many in the community. As a pillar in the Robbins community she will be missed but her love and her legacy will always remain. Rev. Clark loved life and will forever be the light of our lives.

 

She is preceded in death by her brothers Charles Brower, Lendo Brower, and Donald Brower, and leaves to cherish her memory; two children, Deon Covington Sr. of Alexandria, VA, and Anita Berry (Marcus) of Waldorf, MD; a step-mother, Mrs. Ruth Brower of Carthage, NC; one brother and two sisters, Everett Brower Jr. (Violet) of Portsmouth, VA, Marion Buie (John) of Carthage, NC, and Johnetta Bond (Vernon) of Fort Washington, MD; five grandchildren, Arsenio Cole of Washington, DC, Deon Covington, Jr. of Raeford, NC; Jasmine Wray (Stephen) of Greensboro, NC; Anthony Steele of Summerfield, Florida, and Imani Cole of Waldorf, MD; twelve great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
