Mildred Shaw

Mildred Shaw, 90, of Carthage, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2020, at Pinehurst Health & Rehabilitation Center in Pinehurst.

A viewing will take on Saturday. April 4, from 1-5pm at Pugh & Smith Funeral Home.

Due to the current health pandemic the family will have a private funeral service.

Mildred was born to the union of the John Chalmers and Pearlie Shaw on September 6, 1929, in Moore County, North Carolina. 

She fought a good fight and finished her course.  Both parents preceded her in death as well as her daughter, Janice Shaw; her sisters Johnnie Mae Shaw and Betty McAllister and her brothers, Edward, Willie Clyde, Bonnie and Henry Shaw.

Mildred joined Mt Zion A.M.E. Zion Church at an early age and was a faithful member until her health prevented her from attending services.

She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Otis Jenkins of Salisbury, NC; 3 grand-children, Kenneth Shaw of Bowie, Md; Tony Shaw of Carthage, NC and Marlon Shaw of Greensboro NC; 3 great-grandchildren, My’Lekh Anderson of Winston Salem, NC; Malcolm Daye of Greensboro, NC and Marlon Shaw, Jr. of Greensboro, NC; 2 great-great-grandchildren, Zoey and Zymier Anderson of Greensboro NC; 1 brother, Fred Shaw of Pinehurst NC; 1 sister-in-law, Andrea Shaw of Bladensburg Md; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
