Irving Randell McMillian

Irving Randell “Dell” McMillian was born on May 24, 1963 to the late Bishop C.J. McMillian and Pastor Pearline S. McMillian.  He departed this earthly world to enter his eternal home on August 28, 2018 in Wake County. 

Dell attended and graduated from Lee County Senior High School in 1981 and attended college at Winston-Salem State University (WSSU).  He graduated from WSSU in 1985, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in English and Mass Communications.  He pledged Kappa Alpha Psi in fall 1984 and he loved his fraternity brothers.  He also loved the WSSU Rams.

Dell was a lifelong member of Oak Grove Holiness Church in Sanford, NC.  He played several instruments including bass and lead guitar, the organ, drums and the saxophone.  He was a man of many talents.  He would get so much joy from playing his saxophone at church each Sunday.  His last saxophone performance was played from his wheelchair with an oxygen tank.  Throughout his sickness, he never lost his sense of humor, his smile or his faith.  He loved serving the Lord and his church and was faithful to the end.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his mother, Pastor Pearline S. McMillian of Sanford NC; brothers Tyrone McMillian (Valerie) of Cary, NC and Shawn McMillian of Garner, NC; niece Jada McMillian; four aunts:  Elnora Belk, Ramona Spinks, Ernestine Spruill and Emily Spruill; one uncle: Nathaniel Spruill; a very special friend and caregiver, Arlene Rainey; his Godsister, Evangelist Sandra Melvin; his Godson, Akeem Richmond; his lifelong best friend and road dog, Eric Richmond; special friends and fraternity brothers, Kelvin Farmer, Tim Ingram and Kelvin “Catbird” Walton and a host of other relatives and friends.
