Mr. Herbert Hoover McLaughlin was born May 23, 1928 in Moore County, North Carolina. He departed this life on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at First Health Moore Regional Hospital.

Herbert attended Pinckney School in Carthage, NC. He began his working career as a logger until an unfortunate accident. He also worked as an in-home caretaker for the elderly. Herbert enjoyed traveling with his family to Atlantic Beach, SC each summer and other various vacation spots. He was also a long time member of New Ben Salem Missionary Baptist Church.

Herbert was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Mary P. McLaughlin. He was also the last child of Neil and Annie McLaughlin to join his parents and siblings in eternity.  His siblings were Chattie Johnson, Cornelia Letterlough, Charles Ann Wyatt, Lucille Foushee, Elder Robert, John, Coshie, Baxter, McKinley and Jesse McLaughlin. He was also preceded in death by one grandson, Corderas Wicker.

He leaves to cherish his memory one daughter, Tammy Brewington (Derreck) of Cameron, NC. One granddaughter, Franchesca Wicker of Charlotte, NC and one grandson, Payton Brewington of Cameron, NC. His in-laws, Bill Petty of Greensboro, NC, Catherine McLaughlin of Greensboro, NC. Lucy McLaughlin and Henrietta McLaughlin, both of Robbins, NC. One special niece, Rita Reaves of Greensboro, NC, great niece, Allona Hutchinson of Greensboro, NC and great-great niece Javana and a host of wonderful nephews and nieces.
