Holton Theodore Worthy was born on March 3, 1924 to the late Enoch and Callie Worthy.
Theodore as he was called by family and friends, answered the voice of his master on Monday, October 29, 2018, around 3:00pm at Central Carolina Hospital, Sanford, NC.
He was united in Holy Matrimony in 1959 to Leola Marie Chesney, from this union eight children were born. Theodore was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great, great grandfather.
Theodore truly put God first in his life, he was a provider for his family, he at one time worked three jobs, Pomona Pipe Company, Sanford Finishing Company, and was self-employed as a pulpwood hauler. He loved fishing, but his heart was pulpwood hauling.
In the early sixties he gave his life to the Lord and joined Jones Temple in Jackson Hamlet, NC. Later Theodore and his family joined Oak Grove Holiness Church, Sanford, N.C. He for many years, was a faithful member until his health failed. Theodore enjoyed Oak Grove and loved the song “Jesus Keeps Me Near the Cross.” In a service he began singing and would tell Pastor McMillian to take it over. He would testify and break out into a shout.
Theodore had many names he was called such as: Uncle Thee (whom he named himself), Muff, Little man, Ole Gray, Sherriff, man daddy, and Poppa Worthy. He would look at someone and come up with a nickname for them. Theodore was a fun and loving man.
He leaves to cherish his memories: A loving wife, Leola Marie Chesney Worthy; five sons: Theodore Roger Worthy JR., Tommy Lee Worthy, Frederick Fenimore Worthy (Tracy), all of Sanford, NC; Paul Antony Worthy (Susan), Pittsboro, NC and Timothy Andrew Worthy, Taylortown, NC; three daughters: Mary Worthy, Annie Dylinda Brooks, and Elma Marie Worthy, all of Sanford, NC; two sisters: Alice Matthews (Frank) and Dorothy Worthy of Bridge Port Connecticut; forty-one grandchildren; thirty-four great grandchildren; two great -great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends
