Marilyn Shaw Marable, the oldest of three children, was born March 7, 1952 in Boston, Massachusetts to the late Willie Mae Shaw and Robert Mild McNeill. Ms. Marilyn Marable, 65, of Carthage, died Friday, Feb. 16, at First Health Moore Regional Hospital.
Marilyn attended Pinckney High School in Carthage, NC, until she was in the group of first African Americans who were bussed into Union Pines School during the integration of blacks into all white schools.When Marilyn accepted Christ into her life she became a dedicated member to Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. She was a leader in all aspects, serving her church in various capacities, up until her death.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, James Rudolph Marable 2016.
Memories of her will forever cherished in the hearts of her survivors. She is survived by one son, James Edgar Marable, of the home, two daughters, Alveda Marie Person (Jeff) of Carthage, NC and Crissie Nadine Marable Johnson, of West End, NC, one step-daughter, Bernetta Cobb of Bridgeport, Connecticut, one brother, Robert Lee Shaw of Richmond, Virginia, one sister, Patricia Dian Shaw, of Raeford, NC, Five grandchildren, Katina, Vanessa, Ki-jana, Kevin and Cameron; three great grandchildren, Jayvion, Maliyah, and Quincy; two special nieces, Lakeia and Jennifer, and two nephews, Charles (Jim) and Walter (Pumpkin), and a host of very special friends and cousins.
